Putting two characters who can barely stand each other and shouldn't share the planet, let alone a room or a car together is a tried and tested formula for action thrillers that crossbreed with comedy. Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson are the mismatched pair for The Hitman's Bodyguard, which just put out a new trailer.

Reynolds is the world's best protection agent who is less than pleased to discover that his latest client is a hitman (Jackson) who has decided to come in from the cold and deliver evidence about his former employers.

They've been at odds and in each other's sights through the years, but now they have to stick together and make it to the Hague in 24 hours so Jackson can testify against a murderous Eastern European dictator (Gary Oldman). It goes about as well as you might expect, with the pair sparring, insulting each other, crashing cars and, in a more unusual moment, riding in a bus with a group of singing nuns.

We'll see whether the combo of Jackson and Reynolds plus lots of shooting, explosions and car crashes works when the movie, directed by Patrick Hughes, arrives on 18 August.
