Can you trust someone who looks like Bradley Cooper, but with the 'tache he's sporting in Guillermo del Toro's latest film, Nightmare Alley? The new trailer suggests not...
Nightmare Alley stars Cooper as Stanton “Stan” Carlisle, a manipulative carny who teams up with the dangerous psychiatrist Dr. Lillith Ritter (Cate Blanchett), making the pair a particularly unholy alliance.
Adapted by del Toro and Kim Morgan from William Lindsay Gresham's novel (first brought to the screen in 1947 with Tyrone Power as Stan), the new version promises striking imagery and, as the teaser makes clear, more to Cooper's character than meets the eye. Even if the director has confirmed that this is somewhat of a pivot away from his usual supernatural output. Still, it looks gorgeous.
The likes of Toni Collette, Willem Dafoe, Richard Jenkins, Rooney Mara, Ron Perlman, David Strathairn, Clifton Collins Jr., Tim Blake Nelson and Mary Steenburgen fill out the cast for what promises to be quite the cine-experience.
It'll arrive in US cinemas on 17 December and we actually, finally, have a date for the UK: 22 January.
