The parade of comicbook adaptations continues, and Amazon's take on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's snarky, violent title The Boys is arriving at the end of next month. To give you more of an idea of the story, the latest trailer has landed.
The Boys is set in a world where superheroes embrace the darker side of their massive celebrity and fame. A group of vigilantes known informally as "The Boys" set out to take down corrupt heroes with no more than their blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about "The Seven," and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes.
On the superhero team front, the Seven comprise the likes of Homelander (Antony Starr), Starlight (Erin Moriarty), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), The Deep (Chace Crawford) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell). The Boys, meanwhile, are led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), who wrangles Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon), and The Female (Karen Fukuhara). We can also expect to see Simon Pegg – who was the inspiration for the design of Wee Hughie in the comic – pop up as Hughie's dad,
Amazon Prime Video will launch the show on 26 July.
