New Trailer Arrives For Enemy

If there’s one thing better than Jake Gyllenhaal, it’s two Jake Gyllenhaals in the same darn movie – especially when they’re sporting a beard this fulsome. But as the screeching strings and jarring sound design of this new **Enemy **trailer suggests, this Gyllenhaal deluge might not be all it’s cracked up to be. Head to Yahoo! to see what we mean.

Reuniting Gyllenhaal with director Denis Villeneuve, this one has been flying under the radar but should springboard off their **Prisoners **success to build up a little buzz. At first glance, it looks like a whole different animal. It’s billed as a “haunting and provocative psychosexual thriller about duality and identity” that will delve deep into doppelganger theory, study the collision between id and ego, and hopefully have some good car chases.

Gyllenhaal plays a strung-out professor called Adam Bell, who encounters an identical man named Anthony St. Claire (also Gyllenhaal) bearing a sinister threat. Mélanie Laurent, Isabella Rossellini and Sarah Gadon join him in his hellish struggle for survival in academe.

The film is roughly adapted from a book by José Saramago, the Portuguese author behind Blindness, and should be a thriller with a metaphysical bent. Thankfully, the title has been changed from the book, because the book is called The Double and we’ve already got one of those. A The Double-double would have melted our minds.

**Enemy **is getting a limited US theatre run from March 14 and will be on UK cinema screens in the first half of 2014.
