Meet the God of Thunder

New Thor Posters Online

It may be Freyja's Day (or "Friday") but it's Thor's day all over again as new posters go online for Kenneth Branagh's Thor, showing the God of Thunder and Marvel hero looking more than a little, well, thunderous. Yes, there were some earlier in the week, but these are less cluttered and a little prettier.

The film, as any fool knows, sees Thor (Chris Hemsworth) exiled to Earth following a slight contretemps** ** with his pa, Lord of the Nine Realms and Ruler of Asgard, Odin (Anthony Hopkins). Landing on our little planet, he falls in with Natalie Portman's Jane Foster (which even a god must consider a stroke of luck) but finds the plotting of his half-brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston) harder to escape. Like, bummer.

These latest poster efforts, false coloured and heavy on the black (but those touches of gold, red and cobalt blue are rather nifty), are clearly trying to build on the brooding tone we've seen in the trailers to date, albeit downplaying the comedy we've also seen. If we were in the habit of reading lots into simple pictures, we'd suggest that the facial close-ups indicate a character-based affair (with explosions) - but of course we'd never over-analyse just because it's Friday and we're over-caffeinated.

Thor is out on April 27, or not soon enough by half.
