Gang of teens? Check. Screaming? Loud. Chainsaw? Growling. All ingredients present and correct then: following the poster from a couple of week's ago, here's the first trailer for **Texas Chainsaw 3D.
It's very much business as usual for the Leatherfaced franchise: we immediately start with some kids in a van, and a not-at-all-gratuitous shot of a girl in her bra. It's then off to chez-Sawyer for some poking around the apparently deserted homestead, before the not-honestly-so-surprising reveal that "someone" is sewing masks in a dark corner of the property. It's not long before one of the gang is hung up and buzzed at. "It happened before," says the blurb. Yup, six times.
The action moves from the house - never again as gnarly as it was in Tobe Hooper's original film - to somewhere industrial, to a graveyard, where there's a nice moment of tense quiet before everything kicks off again. If we learned anything, it's that coffins aren't necessarily good hiding places.
Principal scream queen this time is Alexandra Daddario (Percy Jackson), with support from Tania Raymonde and Scott Eastwood. We're also promised roles of varying size for series royalty Gunnar Hansen, Marilyn Burns and Bill Moseley.
The director is John Luessenhop (Takers), and having missed the Hallowe'en deadline, the film's buried in the UK on January 4.
