Though it was never originally intended to be more than a miniseries, and soaked up most of the story from Liane Moriarty's source novel, Big Little Lies was such a success for HBO that the US channel decided to keep the party going. Which means that Season 2 is on the way, and a new trailer has emerged online.
With Moriarty helping out on the story front, the new season is largely wrapped in mystery. What we do know, however, is that the woman who have become known as the Monterey Five – Nicole Kidman's Celeste, Shailene Woodley's Jane, Zoë Kravitz' Bonnie, Reese Witherspoon's Madeline and Laura Dern's Renata – are still dealing with the fallout of the murder of the abusive Perry (Alexander Skarsgård).
To make matters worse, his mother, Mary Louise (Meryl Streep) has turned up looking for the truth, and is convinced she won't get it from the women. Expect twists, deceptions and likely more loss of life...
Big Little Lies returns to Stateside screens on 9 June, and to Sky Atlantic on 10 June over here.
