Marvel Studios is about to pull the trigger on what, on the surface at least, is its boldest move since it bid farewell to Edward Norton and recast Hulk. Guardians Of The Galaxy, however, looks like giving cinemagoers both glorious barrels. From its studious marketing, of which these new stills are the latest component, to the eyeball-frying visuals of its trailers, this band of outland outlaws could well ooga-chaka their way to glory.

Time will tell – there’s still another pesky month before release – but this posse of space bandits look more formidable with every passing day. These new pics feature Peter “Star-Lord” Quill (Chris Pratt) and everyone’s favourite deranged procyonid, Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), as well as one of the film’s big bads, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser. Head over to Hitflix for the full gallery.

**Guardians **centres initially on Quill as the unofficial leader of a rag-tag bunch of astro assassins, thieves, bruisers and maniacs whose star-trekking endeavours are threatened by Ronan and that intergalactic downer known as Thanos (voiced by Josh Brolin). First thrown together in prison, Quill, Rocket, Groot (Vin Diesel), Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Drax (Dave Bautista) must find some way to work together and tackle the villain of the piece and all his co-villains, minions and any Chitauri who happen to be hanging about.{Guardians Of The Galaxy Character Posters} **Super **director James Gunn is behind this one, which also features Lee Pace, Benicio del Toro, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Glenn Close, Michael Rooker and Peter Serafinowicz.
