Star Trek may be about the future – and Star Trek: Discovery might still be a ways off in our future – but the new teaser for the latest Trek spin-off is all about channelling the past. Take a look below.
With Discovery in production at last, the video calls back to the birth of Trek and then send us on a photographic journey through the franchise (well, the TV version), before offering a glimpse at the sets under construction, a few costumes, props, make-up and effects.
As for the show itself... We still don't know when it might be leaving the television spacedock, as it has already missed a planned January launch and was recently removed from the May schedule of American TV channel CBS (it'll launch there, before heading to the company's All Access app, while UK viewers will be able to watch the show on Netflix).
What we do know right now is that The Walking Dead's Sonequa Martin-Green is playing the lead, the First Officer aboard Discovery alongside the likes of Anthony Rapp and Doug Jones, plus Michelle Yeoh as the captain of another vessel and the recently-cast James Frain as Sarek. Set around 10 years before the adventures of Kirk and co., it'll reportedly follow different stories each season. But if the teaser has sparked your interest... you'll just have to be patient.
