New Samurai-Filled On-Set Wolverine Snap

The Wolverine director James Mangold, like Marc Webb and Bryan Singer, is not afraid to tweet a behind-the-scenes picture or two when the mood strikes him. Today, he's unveiled a new snap, which sees Hugh Jackman's Wolverine (topless) squaring off against Hiroyuki Sanada's Lord Shingen (clothed in samurai outfit) in a battle of metal on metal.

Tweeted alongside the words "Hiro Sanada and HJ rehearse clash of claws and blades. Hiro is a truly great actor, martial artist and friend", it's one of the more action-filled Twitpics we've seen so far, which have included Jackman looking at a slug as well as a hole in the wall.

But let's have a closer look at this photo. First things first, Shingen is not the Jaeger-like monster-roboto Silver Samurai recently seen in the **Wolverine **Cinema-Con footage, and second things second, even the preternaturally ripped Jackman has got to be sucking in his gut here. If he's not, we all might as well tear up our gym membership cards immediately.

With a script featuring contributions from Mangold, Christopher McQuarrie, Mark Bomback and Scott Frank, it's all based on the classic Frank Miller/Chris Claremont comic run, and also stars Will Yun Lee as the Silver Samurai, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Rila Fukushima, Brian Tee and Svetlana Khodchenkova. The Wolverine hits UK cinemas on July 26. The latest trailer is below, and you can also find our footage breakdown right here.
