With this new trailer for **Robin Hood, Ridley Scott and his marketing team have clearly decided that it’s story time, laying out the basic story of Hood (Russell Crowe) and his merry band of rebellious warriors for the five people (and, one assumes, a lot more Stateside) who don’t actually know the legend’s basic plot.
And it’s also introducing some of the elements that writer Brian Helgeland has bolted on for this go-around – Hood’s links to his father particularly.
So we get a portrait of a man fighting for justice in the footsteps of his dad, who died for what he believed in. And there’s more of Oscar Isaac’s corrupt Prince John and Mark Strong’s ruthless enforcer, Sir Godfrey, as they crack down on any peasants who refuses to pay their extortionate taxes.
Fortunately, the exposition is peppered between some fun looking action shots and even a little banter between Robin and Maid Marian (Cate Blanchett), who is more of a warrior herself this time out, at least when the moment calls for it.
The one arrives on 14 May, but for now, watch the trailer below or in HD on Yahoo! Movies and let us know what you think. Good Hood or an arrow in the eye?
