The last time Ice Age creators Blue Sky released some footage of their latest, Rio, it was limited to a teaser that focused on Blu, the hero of the piece (voiced by Jesse Eisenberg) trying to figure out flying. Now comes the full trailer, which you can view over at Apple.
This latest promo introduces the story proper: Blu is a domesticated macaw and lives in frosty Minnesota with his devoted owner, Linda (Leslie Mann). She discovers that he’s a truly rare specimen and is asked if she’ll bring him to Rio de Janeiro to mate with Jewel (Anne Hathaway), the last female of their breed.
But while Blu is outgoing and fun at home, he suddenly finds that he’s a bag of nerves around the sexy, confident Jewel. And when money-hungry types kidnap them both, the pair must escape and embark on an adventure that will see Blu experience the world properly for the first time. Assuming he doesn’t get killed along the way…
Rio looks like it could be a lot of fun (even if the story about finding and believing in yourself is one we’ve been told a thousand times on screen) and Eisenberg and Hathaway bring a lot of spark to the main characters. The movie arrives on April 8 next year. Take a look at the trailer and let us know your thoughts…
