This past weekend, the latest trailer for Paul WS Anderson’s **Resident Evil: Afterlife{ =nofollow}** **aired on US TV network G4. Now the promo is up for all of us to see and, depending on your appreciation for the RE franchise and zombie dogs with giant, alien-style maws, enjoy.

Featuring a little more plot this time around, we’re treated to narration from Milla Jovovich’s Alice, who explains… well, the basic story of the films to this point. Big outbreak, survivors looking for sanctuary, Claire Redfield, and how the eeeevil Umbrella Corporation is A) behind it all and B) hiding away underground coming up with dastardly plots and ways to exploit the situation.

There’s plenty of new footage to be found here, though not a lot that feels unexpected given what we usually see in a **Resident Evil **film. Jovovich does her martial arts shtick and fires guns a lot, Ali Larter looks angry, the zombie hordes surge and the Umbrella types, here personified by Shawn Roberts’ Albert Wesker, show off their latest evil efforts. Roberts definitely seems to be channelling characters from The Matrix as he whizzes around, flips about and avoids several knives that Alice flings in his direction. Fans of the previous films are also rejoicing at the fact that Sienna Guillory will pop up in some capacity as Jill Valentine.

Oh, and The Executioner’s brought his giant axe to the party. Which gives Anderson one of what we firmly expect to be 7,350 examples of stuff flying at the screen to show off how proud he is of the 3D cameras he’s been using, like a child displaying colour-covered hands after a particularly satisfying bout of finger-painting.

You’ll get your chance to judge his efforts for yourself on September 10. Question is, will you want to stick his work on the fridge or quietly "lose" it down behind the cooker so you don't have to look at it?
