Sony have not yet officially bowed out of Spider-Man 4's previously announced release-date of May 6th, 2011, but that hasn't stopped Paramount and Marvel Entertainment from leaping into action at the news of Spidey's troubles, and snaffling the date for the mighty Thor. And with Thor's previous May 20th therefore suddenly vacant, Disney have sailed into the slot with the previously not-officially-dated Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides.
Paramount are saying they'll vacate their spot again if Spidey 4 does turn out to arrive as previously scheduled, but, looking at the current release map, they'll have a job to squeeze in if they are required to move.
The Hangover 2 has currently bagged May 28th, Green Lantern is on June 17th, Transformers 3 has got July 4th, part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has July 18th, and Captain America is pencilled in for July 25th, despite not having a cast yet.
So a summer of sequels and comic-heroes: who woulda thunk it? But we're sure there'll be some original, surprising releases in there somewhere. Won't there? Well there's **Battleship **on August 5th...
