You might have seen the first trailer for Swiss Army Man, which stars Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe, and might be the oddest film arriving on screens this year. The Red Band version, which adds more offbeat humour, can be seen below.
Dano is Hank, desperate, lonely and ready to commit suicide after being stranded on a desert island and losing all hope of seeing home again. But everything changes when a corpse named Manny (Radcliffe) washes ashore and, in an unlikely turn of events, the pair become fast friends. Soon, they're off on an epic adventure, with Manny proving remarkably useful in the quest to help Hank get back to the woman of his dreams.
Directed by music video specialists Daniel Scheinert and Daniel Kwan (who are collectively known as DANIELS), the film aims to be comic, whimsical and affecting. It divided audiences at the Sundance Film Festival and ended up wit the Directing Award.
With Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Timothy Eulich and Richard Gross in the cast, Swiss Army Man will open in limited release the States on June 17 before going wider on July 1. UK audiences will have to wait longer, as there's no word yet on a release for this country.
