We've had a regular trailer that played up the psychological thriller aspects, but lest you feared that Homefront would be lacking in action, here's a red band clip to put your minds at ease. Be warned that Jason Statham and James Franco go about their mutually vengeful business in a way that's probably not safe for work (without headphones).
There's much more here than last time in the way of people being shot to bits and resoundingly beaten, plus some particularly ripe dialogue and one of those flashbacks where The Stath has hair. Always enjoy those. It's looking to be another retro-throwback '80s style R-rated actioner, of which there have been a few this year. This one has the benefit of having been written by Mr Sly Stallone himself. If you watch carefully you'll even see a bullet to the head.
Statham is the guy-with-a-troubled-past-now-trying-to-live-a-quiet-life Phil Broker, while Franco is meth kingpin Gator, who turns vans upside down like they in a crazy washing machine (or something). Winona Ryder, Kate Bosworth, Rachelle Lefevre and Clancy Brown are also all in there somewhere, and Stallone's screenplay is an adaptation of the novel by Chuck Logan. Gary Fleder (Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead) is the director, and Homefront is out in the UK on December 6.
