We’ve had the teaser and various clips, but now the full trailer for Rango has arrived online to offer some proper story nuggets, and you can watch it below.
Rango (voiced by Johnny Depp) is a chameleon who dreams of being a famous gunfighter. Unfortunately, he’s more of a goofball than a lawman, at least until he pitches up at the small town of Dirt in the middle of the desert and is hailed as a hero for killing a hawk.
Despite the fact that the bird died accidentally while trying to make a snack out of the fleet-footed lizard, the townsfolk quickly embrace him as a possible new sheriff, one that can help them with their serious bandit problem. And that’s just the start of Rango’s troubles – he might have won his dream, but the reality will be more of a nightmare.
With Gore Verbinski overseeing the film, Rango also features the voices of Bill Nighy, Isla Fisher, Abigail Breslin, Alfred Molina and Ray Winstone. And even though it appears to channel the 50 billionth variation on the “believe in yourself” theme, we've got to admit that this not only looks cinematically great, but really seems like it could be a lot of fun.
Rango struts into town on March 4. Take a look at the trailer and let us know your thoughts.
