Dan Stevens looks like he has an honest face, something he puts to good use in Adam Wingard’s new thriller, The Guest. But while the family in the film seems happy to open their door to him, they soon regret it. Has no one there watched Downton Abbey? Death follows people from that show like a shadow! Anyway, on with the new trailer, over at Yahoo.
Stevens is David, a soldier who shows up at the home of the Peterson family and introduces himself as a friend of their late son Caleb, who died in action. Initially offered a warm welcome, things quickly start to go wrong.
Though David appears to be a charming, friendly fellow, a series of unexplained, apparently accidental deaths start happening, and he seems to be connected to all of them. And while he’s offering handy life lessons to the younger members of the family, his motives aren’t entirely honest.
Crafted by Wingard and regular collaborator Simon Barrett, **The Guest **also features Maika Monroe, Leland Orser, Sheila Kelley, Brendan Meyer and Lance Reddick, and will finagle its way into UK cinemas on September 5 via Icon Pictures and is set for September 17 from Picturehouse in the US.
