Paul Bettany stars in Underworld's Creed

New Priest Poster Online

We were looking forward to Priest a lot more before we saw Legion, but then we saw the trailer and thought it might just about be all right again. It's been much delayed, but it's now almost upon us, and just to keep us reminded, here's a new **Priest **poster.

Ditching the Deicide-album-cover look of the first one, and the Dr No chic of the character banner, the latest Priest poster seems to have two immediate reference points. The whole crouching-on-a-parapet-above-a-city schtick is very Underworld-y (not to mention Batman-ish). But mixed with Bettany's cowled appearance, dagger in-hand (that's not a euphemism) we're also reminded of Assassin's Creed. Perhaps he's about to swandive from his promontory onto a convenient hay cart.

Priest, a horror Western, sees Bettany as the alliteratively named Ivan Issacs, teaming up with Sheriff Cam Gigandet and priestess Maggie Q to rescue his niece from the digitally rendered hordes of the undead, led by Karl Urban's black-hatted vampire. Fittingly, given Urban's most recent gig, the set-up is a bit Judge Dredd, with the inhabitants of a walled city rarely venturing into the Cursed Earth outside until Bettany decides to take The Long Walk. But this isn't an adaptation of The Dead Man; it's inspired by the Tokyopop comics by Min-Woo Hyung.

Scott Stewart is once again calling Bettany's shots, Christopher Plummer, Brad Dourif and Madchen Amick co-star, and Priest is out in the UK on May 13.
