Early screenings of Denzel Washington's latest directorial effort Fences (in which he also stars), have produced some very positive reactions and talk of awards potential. The new poster for the movie has arrived, and you can find it below
Fences finds Washington adapting August Wilson's play, with the writer himself providing the screenplay. The story is of Troy Maxon (Washington), a Pittsburgh sanitation employee who once dreamed of a baseball career only to be left facing down daily discrimination in a more menial line of work, while grappling with his lost ambitions. Viola Davis plays Troy's wife, Rose, who has his back, but feels like her own hopes were put on hold to support him.
It's not the first time for either actor in their roles – both appeared in the stage version and took home Tonys for their performances.
Fences is out in the US on 25 December and is still listed as "Coming Soon" here, though appears to be headed our way in February. The most recent trailer is below.
