Geoffrey Rush's none-too-Jolly Roger

New Pirates Of The Caribbean Banner

There's been a whole lot of mainbrace splicing going on this week as the Pirates 4 marketing machine hauls anchor and sets sail for the big screen, and we're fast running out of seafaring puns. Or arrghh we?

Okay, yes. Instead of more terrible puns, here's the official word on this new character banner of Geoffrey Rush's badass brigand Hector Barbossa. Over to you, Disney: "Once a ferocious pirate and deadly enemy of Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa enters an uneasy alliance with his rival in a race to the Fountain of Youth."

Put another way, Barbossa is the hunter-turned-gameskeeper in Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides; he's the franchise's one-time villain back from the dead with a serious shift of loyalties (and more skin). He's now commanding HMS Providence and assisting Jack Sparrow on his quest for the lifegiving MacGuffin. But is it all an elaborate ruse to hide a much more dastardly scheme? Surely he's still a little peeved about that whole Black Pearl business? Click on the image for a closer look at the salty suspect.

If you're after more Pirates treasure, there's other new banners of Jack Sparrow and Angelicato be found. X marks the spot. Kinda.

**Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides **is out on May 18 in 2D and 3D.
