We got our first proper look at The Peanuts Movie back in March with the first image – limited to Charlie Brown and Snoopy – and the teaser trailer (see the bottom of the page). USA Today has premiered a batch of new pictures from the film, and you can find them loitering around the gallery below.
The team, including producer Paul Feig and director Steve Martino, are at pains to stress that this won’t be some pop culture-infused, social media-trendified version of the beloved Charles Schulz characters, just a simple tale of Charlie Brown on a quest to get something he’s sure he requires, even if that turns out to be wrong.
But it will also still allow for his canine companion to have literal flights of fantasy, including a battle with old nemesis The Red Baron: "We really get to go into his mind and see what this crazy dog is imagining every day of his life," says producer and writer Craig Schulz, who, as you might guess from the name, is one of Schulz’s sons.
From the looks of the imagery, they’ve certainly captured the feel of the classic cartoons with a coat of modern CG paint. “You love being back in that world," Feig tells the paper. "And you immediately want to grab every kid you know and go, 'Oh, my God, you've got to watch this!'” For more from the team, head to USA Today’s site.
The Peanuts Movie will be out here on December 21, 2015, and currently bears the slightly unwieldy title Snoopy And Charlie Brown: A Peanuts Movie.
