Adaptations of the late Terry Pratchett's work have largely (on screen at least) been more miss than hit affairs. BBC Studios is hoping it can change all that with The Watch, and a new image is online – see it above.
For those who may be unfamiliar with Pratchett's work, the City Watch, a misfit group of officers patrolling the streets of sprawling city Ankh-Morpork, home to all manner of normalized wrongness. The eight-episode thriller will feature several famous Discworld creations including City Watch Captain Sam Vimes (Richard Dormer), the last scion of nobility Lady Sybil Ramkin (Lara Rossi), the naïve but heroic Carrot (Adam Hugill), the mysterious Angua (Marama Corlett) and the ingenious non-binary forensics expert Cheery (Jo Eaton-Kent). Also showing up? Paul Kaye as Inigo Skimmer, Ingrid Oliver as Doctor Cruces, James Fleet as the Archchancellor of Unseen University and Anna Chancellor as Lord Vetinari, who governs the city.
The images from the show (including this latest one) have been causing much debate and concern among fans, and we'll see whether the series can prove itself when it debuts in January.
