Like the titular creature itself, which shows a distinct reticence towards appearing, we haven't seen much from Disney's new version of Pete's Dragon yet. The presence of a motion poster made us think a trailer would't be far behind, and so it has come to pass. Find it here{ =nofollow}.

Described as a "re-imagining", this version of the story has been given an updated coat of paint and CG trickery by Ain't Them Bodies Saints director David Lowery, working with co-writer Toby Halbrooks.

The story introduces us to wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford), who spins wild tales of a fierce dragon living in the depths of the Pacific Northwest's forests. His daughter Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard) indulges his passion for storytelling only so far... At last until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley), a mysterious 10-year-old who claims to have no family and live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliott. Could Meacham's stories be closer to reality than Grace suspects? And will she at any point have to run away from it in heels?

Regardless, the film also features Wes Bentley, Oona Laurence and Karl Urban, and will stomp into UK cinemas on August 12. The motion poster, released earlier in the weekend, is right here{ =nofollow}.
