New Paul Trailer Online!

We’ve seen the teaser. We’ve watched the UK promo. Now it’s the turn of our colonial cousins to get their own full trailer for Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and director Greg Mottola’s new blend of sci-fi and comedy, Paul, and it can be viewed over at Apple.

Chances are you know the plot of the movie already, but in case you’ve just returned from a trip to Mars, Paul finds two slacker comic book types, Graeme Willy (Pegg) and Clive Rollings (Frost) on a road trip visiting famous UFO sights across the Western US. But then they get more than they bargained following a close encounter with escaped extra-terrestrial Paul (voiced by Seth Rogen), who is being hunted down by armed government agents.

Needless to say, madness follows. This latest promo is fairly similar to the UK footage, though there are some noticeably new moments added, including a riff on Predator and a funny nod to ET.

If the presence of Pegg and Frost wasn't enough to lure you in, the movie's cast is a veritable Who's Who of current US comedy folk, with Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, Jeffrey Tambor, Jason Bateman, Jane Lynch, Joe Lo Truglio, Sigourney Weaver and David Koechner all cropping up.

It makes sense that the US trailer arrives a month after the UK effort, since that’s the planned release schedule for the film itself – we get it on February 14, while Americans will have to wait patiently until March 18 to watch it themselves (this is the part where Empire’s Man In LA shakes his fist at the sky in impotent rage over the sheer injustice of it all).
