Spoofing big, Vegas-style illusions didn’t exactly create magic for The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, but Louis Leterrier and the team behind Now You See Me will be hoping that using them as the backdrop for a heist thriller proves more successful. The latest trailer has appeared in a cloud of smoke and laser light at Apple and you can take a look via this link.
Now You See Me finds a group of illusionists called the Four Horsemen (Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco and Woody Harrelson) who have used their talents to exact a little financial revenge against fat cats and the criminally rich. Their shows now include bank robberies and redistributing the wealth to needy and wronged members of the audience.
Their actions, somewhat naturally, attract the attention of the FBI, and one agent in particular (Mark Ruffalo), who is determined to catch them. Then there’s one aggrieved banker who has a particular grudge (Michael Caine) and Morgan Freeman as the trick expert hired to help explain how the Horsemen do what they do as part of the scheme to track them. Cue a global cat and mouse game as the magicians try to stay ahead of the authorities. Yet all, as you might expect, is not what it seems…
Leterrier’s latest is set to arrive here on July 5.
