It's a Muppisode! With our very special guest stars Gordon Ramsay and wrestler Mike Mizanin! Yaaaaaay! [arm flail] Or to put it in more sober and less muppified terms: with The Muppets Most Wanted out in theatres next spring, the marketing machine is gearing up. The latest piece of kit to burst forth from Muppet Studios is this six-minute short, in which The Muppets go head-to-head with Gordon Ramsay and the WWE. (There's also a shorter version that omits all the wrestling stuff).
Kermit, Gonzo, Rowlf, Scooter, Fozzie, Miss Piggy, Animal, and new-boy Walter, stop the van for a bathroom break at a country fair that turns out to be a gourmet food fest. Therein they discover the Swedish Chef selling "Sweedee Meetee Bools" at his "Bork Bork Fork" stall, whereupon he angers WWE's The Miz, and provokes the jealous wrath of Gordon "Bleeping" Ramsay. There follows a cook-off, in which Gordo is assisted/hindered by Sweetums and The Chef gets help from Beaker. Waldorf and Statler (aided by Dame Piggy and Bunsen Honeydew) are, of course, the judges.
Muppets Most Wanted sees Kermit implicated in a massive heist pulled off by someone who looks just like him. Soon, Interpol is on the gang’s trail... The human cast includes Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, Ty Burrell, Tom Hiddleston, Debby Ryan, Christoph Waltz, Dexter Fletcher, Danny Trejo and Ray Liotta among many others.
Sadly there's no Jason Segel this time out, but James Bobin, as before, is directing; co-writer Nicholas Stoller is back on screenplay duties; and we’re promised more songwriting genius from Oscar winning Conchord Bret McKenzie. The music will be played and the lights will be lit in the UK on March 28.
