New Line is digging its World War Two horror The Watch out of the development mud.

The studio originally bought the script way back in 2001 and tried to develop it, before shoving it into the mire of turnaround. But now thanks to an unlikely hero in former Friends star Matt LeBlanc, it’s back.

LeBlanc grabbed the script via his Fort Hills Productions company and, with partner John Goldstone, spent a few years developing it before hiring Final Destination 3’s James Wong to direct it and convincing New Line to take it back. He’ll take a crack at rewriting it and start directing once his producing work on the Black Christmas remake is finished.
