We’ve already had one fist-fuelled trailer for The Killer Elite and, if anything, this latest promo just confirms the idea that it essentially wants to be an ‘80s action movie when it grows up. You can watch the new footage over at the IMDB.
Well, we say “new” footage, but in reality a chunk has been recycled from that previous effort. And what hasn’t changed is the plot – Jason Statham is Danny Bryce, a former SAS operative and largely considered one of the toughest nuts around.
But when he and mentor Hunter (Robert De Niro) annoy the wrong people, Hunter is snatched and the villainous, stupidly-'tached Spike (Clive Owen) starts making threatening phone calls, growling about what will happen to the man who is “like a father” to Danny. So what does The Stath do? Why, he does what he does best – kicks mucho arse, fires guns and crashes cars.
**Killer Elite **is unabashedly OTT and features lots of actors snarling dialogue that Arnie and co would’ve been proud to spout back in the day. Oh, and there’s also the likes of Yvonne Strahovski, Dominic Purcell and former Lost man Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje in the cast.
