While the attempt to show the earlier years of Jack Ryan on the big screen haven't always worked out, that isn't stopping Amazon from giving it a shot for TV. Check out the new trailer for the show, starring John Krasinski as Ryan.

Based as ever on the Tom Clancy character that has been portrayed several times in cinemas, this time the story is handled by former Lost/Bates Motel co-showrunner Carlton Cuse, who teams up with another veteran of the island, writer/producer Graham Roland (a former Marine). They haven't directly adapted any of Clancy’s books, but will instead showcase the character as a CIA agent/analyst in the present day.

He's usually found running a desk, but when one of the financial irregularities he's tracking leads to a terrorist plot that threatens destruction on a global scale, he'll have to learn what it takes to be a field agent, with tough but reassuring handler James Greer (Wendell Pierce).
