New Indiana Jones Pics Online

Another bunch of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull images are now online - only these ones are legal, and shot by photographer-to-the-stars Annie Liebowitz for a Vanity Fair special. The big news is that we get our first look at Cate Blanchett's Nazi...sorry, Communist in costume (well, with that haircut she's got to have Fascist leanings, right?).

In the accompanying interviews, the tidbits of news include the fact that Spielberg says he's on his second cut of the film (he usually does five before locking a print) and that he and cinematographer (replacing the now-retired Doug Slocombe) Janusz Kaminski are committed to reproducing the style and pace of the other three films rather than modernising.

There's a big ol' spoiler on page 4 of the feature accompanying these pics, which we won't mention here but is clearly marked so beware. Also of interest is George Lucas' claim that the MacGuffin (those Crystal Skulls) is one he's been set on from the start, and which he thinks is better than either the Shankara stones or the Holy Grail.

Head on over to Vanity Fair (here) for the rest of the story and more pictures, and keep an eye out for the uncut Lucas and Spielberg interviews too.

So what do we think? Looking pretty spiffy, right? One word of warning though - some of you are going to be up in arms about that spoiler, but if you're discussing it or its implications for the film, 2008 and life as we know it, please mark it clearly so others can avoid it.
