For the most part, the imagery we’ve seen of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters has been the main cast – Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Kristin Wiig and Leslie Jones standing in costume. That’s still part of this new picture, but now we get a suitably spooky (or at least neon green) background.
McCarthy, McKinnon, Wiig and Jones are starring as the women who must defend New York against a surge in paranormal activity that McCarthy and Wiig’s characters initially detect but are laughed out of academia for revealing. They eventually decide to recruit the others to form their own unit.
Chris Hemsworth, Michael Kenneth Williams, Andy Garcia, Matt Walsh and Neil Casey also all part of the cast and we can expect cameos from original Ghostbusters stars Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd and Sigourney Weaver. Slimer’s status remains unknown, but we’re assuming his agent was trying to make a deal that leaned heavily on snack cakes.
The new picture was handed to various Ghostbusters fan sites, and makes us think that there could be a trailer online before the year is out. We’ll have to wait and see on that front, but Feig’s latest will be out here on July 15.
