As the release date rushes ever closer, Warner Bros. is stepping up the barrage of advertising for Green Lantern, with the latest trailer arriving in cinemas alongside Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. And while you’d be able to get the full 3D experience in the theatre, you can at least check out the footage below.
In a smart move, the marketing team are using this latest promo to plug one of the gaps of previous trailers – offering those unfamiliar with the Lantern’s story (which is a considerably larger group than those who don’t know Spider-Man or Hulk’s story, for example) a primer on the plot basics.
So, with narration from Geoffrey Rush’s Tomar-Re, we learn about the birth of the Lantern Corps, its mission, nasty villain Parallax and just how Ryan Reynolds’ Hal Jordan came to be chosen as the latest recruit. There are also a few new set-piece shots, no doubt aiming to make the most of the 3D on the big screen to wow people into showing up.
While the Lantern has faced an uphill struggle with early, negative buzz, the mood definitely seems to have swung towards the positive, though the final test will come with the movie itself.
Take a look at the trailer and let us know your thoughts.
Green Lantern is out on June 17.
