When the first Golden Compass teaser came out several months back, there were a couple of things we were worried about. But both of those worries seem to have been fixed in this cracking new trailer, online here.
One thing fans of the book will notice is that all the humans now have daemons, the animal companions that are consciously joined to humans, which are such a crucial part of the story (not having them would be like showing the characters without heads). Those daemons also look a lot more real. The effects have lost much of their plasticy look and now look blended with the live-action world.
We also get to hear a few of the newly voiced animal creatures. As we we reported yesterday, Kristin Scott Thomas does voicework duties on Lord Asriel's (Daniel Craig) daemon, Freddie Highmore voices Lyra's and Ian McKellen takes over the vocals of the Bear King Iorek Byrnison. We did kinda keep waiting for him to say "You shall not PASS!" though.
So, is this now the world you imagined when reading Philip Pullman's series?
