Here's a new look at Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr Fox, courtesy of Apple. Part trailer, part making-of, it's narrated by Jason Schwartzman.
In true Anderson style it's a slightly wonky version of a regular featurette, showcasing the deliberately home-made look, and the work that went into the puppets and the set designs, whilst blasting words like "tweaking" and "futzing" up on the screen in large, friendly yellow letters. Schwartzman's statement that it took a full day's animating to get thirty seconds of film is accompanied by the caption "so much cussing work!"
Also included is the priceless revelation that the actors went out on location to get the vocal performances just right. Cue shots of George Clooney and co. gooning around on a farm. That retro animation is still a bit of a shock in these Coraline times, but if the film is as much fun as the production looks, it should be a blast.
