Plenty of people think they know who Elvis Presley was, though much of that comes through his older, pudgier, glittery years. Baz Luhrmann is looking to chronicle more of his early years and show his ground-shaking impact on pop culture and rock music. The new trailer for Elvis is online...

The film explores the life and music of Presley (Austin Butler), seen through the prism of his complicated relationship with his enigmatic manager, Colonel Tom Parker (Tom Hanks, making a real accent choice here). The story delves into the complex dynamic between Presley and Parker spanning over 20 years, from Presley’s rise to fame to his unprecedented stardom, against the backdrop of the evolving cultural landscape and loss of innocence in America. Central to that journey is one of the most significant and influential people in Elvis’s life, Priscilla Presley (Olivia DeJonge).

With typical Luhrmann swagger and style, this could be a good fit of filmmaker and subject, but we'll find out when the movie itself lands on 24 June.
