The first teaser trailer for Tim Burton's re-imagined, live-action take on Dumbo (another from Disney's production line of movies adapted from the company's animated back catalogue), arrived in June. Now the first full trailer introduces the wider world of the film.
From the looks of this, Burton (and screenwriter Ehren Kruger) have maintained the sadder aspects of the tale, while going big on the spectacle of the circus environs and the story of the young elephant who, thanks to his unusually big ears, has the ability to fly.
You won't get to see much in the way of flight, though we do explore more of the story, which finds Circus owner Max Medici (Danny DeVito) enlisting former star Holt Farrier (Colin Farrell) and his children Milly (Nico Parker) and Joe (Finley Hobbins) to care for a newborn elephant whose ears make him a laughingstock in an already struggling circus. But when they discover that Dumbo can fly, the circus makes an incredible comeback, attracting persuasive entrepreneur VA Vandevere (Michael Keaton), who recruits the peculiar pachyderm for his newest, larger-than-life entertainment venture, Dreamland. Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant (Eva Green), until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets...
Dumbo flaps his way into UK cinemas on 29 March.
