The trailer has been online for a while now, but a clip from the new M. Night Shyamalan-produced horror thriller Devil has surfaced, providing a better look at the various characters who end up trapped in a stalled lift where something decidedly weird is going on.
Based on an idea by the writer/director, but written by 30 Days of Night’s Brian Nelson and directed by the Quarantine team of Drew and John Erick Dowdle, Devil finds a random group of strangers thrown together in the cramped confines, only to discover that they’re clearly not alone.
There aren’t exactly any scares to be found here, just the lift’s temporary occupants reacting to one of them seemingly getting bitten or scraped by something sharp.
Promos for the movie have apparently been suffering some negative reactions in America, with cinemagoers booing when they see Shyamalan’s name come up on screen. Given the mixed response to** The Last Airbender (and, let’s not forget, The Happening**), it’s understandable, but does make you wonder whether it’ll hurt the pic itself.
Devil will get a chance to prove itself when it arrives on September 17.
