New Concept Art For Elysium

In a world divided brutally into the have-nots and the have-spaceships, **Elysium **plays out as a kind of sci-fi Robin Hood. It's shaping up to be another mighty feat of world building from Neill 'District 9' Blomkamp, and a batch of its concept art has come to light at Moviefone to give a fascinating glimpse at its earliest stages.

There's a glimpse at the Versace Med Pods, designer healthcare that only the super-wealthy can dream of accessing, from sci-fi design maestro Syd Mead, the man who did so much to give Blade Runner its futureshock aesthetic. Purists - sorry, *everyone *- will be excited by his involvement in the movie.

And that's not all! There's also a brand-new motion poster for the movie.

While Elysium's space'triachs swan about in those shiny high-altitude meadows drinking unicorn's milk martinis and getting full-body manicures, everyone else is reduced to scrabbling for what they can get on a ruined, filthy Earth. It’s here we find Max De Costa (Matt Damon), who is exposed to radiation while working and finds out he doesn’t have long to live. Unless, that is, he can break in to Elysium’s heavily guarded chambers and get the treatment he needs. Oh, and he may just have to save everyone else at the same time.

But the task won’t be easy, particularly with the sniffy Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster) making sure the place stays secure and tough mercenary warrior Kruger (Sharlto Copley) carrying out her orders.

Elysium is out in the UK on August 23.
