With the cameras already rolling under the direction of Elizabeth Banks, the new take on Charlie's Angels continues to announce casting. Nat Faxon and Crazy Rich Asians' Chris Pang are the latest names added to the ensemble.
Jay Basu and Banks worked together on the most recent draft of the script, which sees a new generation of Angels working for the mysterious Charlie, who has built the Townsend Agency into a global security enterprise providing protection and intelligence services for a variety of private clients. Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska will play the central Angels, while Banks, alongside Patrick Stewart and Djimon Hounsou are on as three Bosley characters, who assist the various Angels team and keep them in contact with their shadowy boss.
Variety's report makes no mention of what Faxon or Pang will be doing in the film, but they join a cast that already includes Jonathan Tucker, Sam Claflin, Noah Centineo, and Luis Gerardo Mendez.
The Angels reboot has just rushed to shift its release date, planting a flag on the 1 November 2019 slot recently vacated by Wonder Woman 1984. But it'll face tough competition, as the latest Terminator movie also just moved to there, with a third Kingsman film, the Sonic The Hedgehog movie and Midway already jostling for space. Someone will have to give way...
Faxon appears on Netflix's Friends From College, which just finished shooting its second season. He's also the voice of Elfo on Disenchantment, recently renewed for its own second batch of episodes. Pang is following Asians with indie drama Empty By Design and new adventure pic Underdogs Rising.
