Little is known for sure about** Spectre**, but a tiny bit more has been revealed thanks to USA Today. Ladies and gentlemen, here are the Bond girls of Sam Mendes' second 007 adventure.
Perhaps the most is known about Léa Seydoux's character, Dr. Madeleine Swann, who comes into contact with Bond after he turns up wearing sharp shades and a turtleneck at her clinic in the Austrian Alps. Her father was an assassin, it turns out, but it's not clear who this might be. Christoph Waltz's big bad, Franz Oberhauser, perhaps? Perhaps not. "He comes to find her," Seydoux says of 007, "and she doesn’t want anything to do with him." Makes sense.
Okay, *Moneypenny *is the Bond girl - if you can call her a Bond girl, or anyone a Bond girl - that the most is known about. The actress behind the character, Naomie Harris, has this to say about the fledgling MI6 agent's evolution since quitting the field and working with the new M (Ralph Fiennes). "[The events of Skyfall] made her reassess what she was doing as a profession and what she wanted to do with the rest of her life," Harris says. "[Now] she wants to support in a different way. There’s a maturity in that decision and a groundedness you see with her."
Monica Bellucci plays Lucia Sciarra, an Italian widow whose mafioso husband has recently been murdered (hence the black). Bond needs information from her, which may be a little difficult given his timing. "She comes from a man’s world," says Bellucci. "But when the attraction between them takes place and she realises her feminine power on him, then she trusts him to save her."
Then there's Stephanie Sigman, who plays the most mysterious Bond girl of them all, Estrella. No surname, just Estrella. She's that mysterious. She's so mysterious that Sigman can barely say anything about her, bar this of her personality: "There's a lot of Stephanie in her. She's a lot like me," she says. "We like to have fun and we're joyful people. I found her really easy to play and go with the flow and just be me." It's a safe bet she'll be a part of the film's first sequence, set in Mexico.
With Sam Mendes back directing a script that has been written by John Logan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, Spectre sees Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw and Naomie Harris, as M, Q and Moneypenny respectively, with new recruits Christoph Waltz as Oberhauser, Dave Bautista as Mr. Hinx, Bellucci as Lucia Sciarra, Lea Seydoux as Swann, Sigman as Estrella and Andrew Scott as Denbigh. Oh, and Daniel Craig as James Bond, of course. It’ll hit UK screens on October 23 before heading to the States and elsewhere on November 6.
