Guillermo del Toro's newest protégé, Troy Nixey, is in generous mood down at Comic-Con, handing out this shiny and dark-tinged new one-sheet for his upcoming horror remake, Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark, to all-comers.

We're loving the sheer gothic Edgar Allan Poe-ness of Nixey's design, which shows the film's young protagonist Sally (Bailee Madison) opening a door she probably shouldn't be opening in a house she might want to consider scarpering from toot-sweet.

A remake of the 1973 made-for-telly terror, **Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark **sees Sally frustrate her father (Guy Pearce) with tales of beasties lurking in the nooks and crannies of their new house. He refuses to believe her, even when his girlfriend (Katie Holmes) corroborates her stories. Biiig mistake, because unbeknownest to him, Sally has carelessly unleashed a host of malevolent creatures. As you do.

Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly has a first-look pic from the film showing Holmes facing up to some of their unwelcome house guests (and probably rueing that choice of artwork).

As the poster suggests, **Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark **is out in the US in January 21, 2011.
