Neil Patrick Harris has built up a steady hoard of credibility over the last few years between his self-spoofing Harold & Kumar cameos, How I Met Your Mother, Dr Horrible and his award show awesomeness. We wonder then, what he saw in the script for The Smurfs the new, CG/live-action blend take on the little blue critters to make him want to sign on.
Not a frame of the film has been shot yet, so we can’t exactly judge, but given the history of taking cartoon characters and giving them a movie makeover, we’re concerned it could end up a blot on his career resurrection.
According to Deadline Hollywood, he won’t have to spend time getting animated – he’s playing a human character in the movie for director Raja Gosnell, which starts shooting in April.
Best guess? They backed a dump truck of money up to his house. He’s not made of stone…
