Neil Marshall is something of a favourite around these parts, so word that he’s getting another assignment is always well received. While we know he’s still planning to make gross-out horror Burst 3D his next project, he’s just been attached to direct **Underground, a thriller set in the world of… gourmet supper clubs?
Hang on, that can’t be right, can it? Apparently, it can. Deadline reports that Marshall will tackle David Cohen’s script, which follows a driven young chef who delves into the terrifying underbelly of extreme cuisine.
That doesn’t exactly go to great lengths to explain anything, so we’re digging up the Guestimator 3000 (sales pitch: Anything Guessed And No Money Back) to speculate that the “underbelly of extreme cuisine” and Marshall’s usual love for gore and terror will combine to mean something that crosses** Fight Club** and The Cook, the Thief, his Wife and her Lover. Underground supper clubs are people! Well, maybe. Or perhaps the world is just so competitive that it’s a literally cutthroat competition.
Assuming he gets around to it, Underground, like Burst before it, will mean Marshall working from someone else’s script. We’re intrigued to see what he does with source material he doesn’t generate.
