If you've been enjoying Neil Marshall's success in TV but wondered when he might channel the talent for terror he's showed in the likes of The Descent, prepare to be pleased. He has now locked in his next project, signing on to direct horror movie The Reckoning.

Marshall also wrote the script alongside Edward Evers-Swindell and Charlotte Kirk, and the latter of the three will star. She's on to play Evelyn Haverstock, a young widow, haunted by the recent suicide of her husband Joseph, who is falsely accused of being a witch by her jealous Landlord, Squire Pendleton, after she rejects his unwanted advances. It's all set against the background of witch hunts and the rise of the great plague in England in 1665.

It's the latest film greenlit by MoviePass, the company that has been struggling with its movie ticket subscription services and is looking to branch out into actual production. Marshall will have the cameras rolling this coming January in Wales.
