There's nothing really earth-shattering, but a few bits and pieces have emerged from producer Neal Moretz over at Collider, regarding the future of the Fast and Furious franchise, and the new Highlander.
The biggest reveal is confirmation of Vin Diesel's Facebook posts from a while ago, that not one but two further Fast and Furious sequels are on the way.** Fast Five** reunites Vin, Paul Walker and "a lot of people from... each of the previous movies" (it sounds like the script is being specifically written according to who's available), along with director Justin Lin, who was behind the camera on parts three and four.
Shooting will take place in "Brazil, Rio, Puerto Rico, a little bit in Los Angeles and some in Atlanta". It won't actually be *shot *in 3D, due to the technical difficulty of "the car stuff and... such quick cuts", but it will very likely be 3D-ised in post-production a la Clash of the Titans.
Details on Speedy Six (name made up by us and subject to change immediately) are more vague, with Moritz saying that Five doesn't exactly end on a cliffhanger, but features an idea that "breaks off and goes into Six". Nobody is signed onto it yet, but "everyone wants to do it".
The two films won't be shooting back-to-back however, due to the small matter of Highlander, which Lin will direct in between. Moritz doesn't seem keen on the R word, but concedes the new Highlander will be "closer to a reboot than anything else". He says it will be aiming to tidy the conflicting and unwieldy mythology from the various films and TV series, while "staying true to the core of what Highlander is. It's an origin story, being made for the fans, but also for people who are new to the franchise."
And we might just get to hear some Queen.
