Nate Parker is definitely an actor on the rise. He’s been working steadily on the big screen since 2005 and most recently worked with Spike Lee on **Red Hook **Summer. Now the director has decided to reteam with Parker for his remake of Oldboy.
Though the new version of Chan-wook Park’s revenge thriller is still drawing ire by its very existence, Lee certainly seems to be filling it with solid performers. Josh Brolin will star as the man who is kidnapped and imprisoned for more than 10 years without being told why. When he’s unexpectedly released and given some information on his captors (including Sharlto Copley), he naturally decides to take his revenge.
Lee has Elizabeth Olsen on board and most recently reached out to another veteran from his CV, Samuel L Jackson, who is now expected to take on a small but pivotal role in the film. Parker, assuming he locks in a deal, will be playing a doctor who works with Olsen’s character.
The actor was most recently seen in Red Tails and has just finished work on indie drama** Ain’t Them Bodies Saints**. He’ll next crop up in Arbitrage, which will arrive in the US on September 14, but doesn’t yet have a UK date.
