It’s a busy time for Natalie Portman. Not only is she looking to find deals for her directorial debut at Cannes, she’s either in talks for or locking down more lead roles. The latest? A drama called **Planetarium.
French director Rebecca Zlotowski is behind this one, working from a script she worked on with Robin Campillo, who wrote the screenplay for The Returned, which served as source material for the creepy series about the dead returning to a small town.
Supernatural themes will also be on display here as, according to the director, Planetarium follows two sisters (Portman and Johnny Depp's daughter, Lily Rose Depp) who appear to possess the ability to communicate with ghosts. They have a fateful meeting with a French film producer while performing in Paris in the 1930s.
Zlotowski is preparing to shoot the film in September ready for a May 2016 release date in France. In addition to the aforementioned starring/directing project, A Tale Of Love And Darkness, Portman will also be seen in Jane Got A Gun (September 4) and Terrence Malick’s Knight Of Cups, which has a reported UK release date on January 1, 2016. Depp appeared briefly in Kevin Smith’s Tusk and reprises the character – named Colleen Collette – in a starring role in his next Canada-set blend of horror and comedy, Yoga Hosers.
