Jennifer Lopez dropped out of the lead role in Love And Other Impossible Pursuits, but it turns out that Natalie Portman always keeps a suit of shining armour close at hand, because she's leapt into the gap for a film that starts shooting on November 10.
Portman will play Emilia, a young wife whose life and marriage stall after the cot death of her infant daughter. She is still, however, stepmother to her husband Jack's son William, and under the disapproving eye of his mother and the increasingly distant eye of her husband Jack, she has to try to put her life back together.
Kissing Jessica Stein's Scott Cohen plays Jack, with I Am Legend and Nights In Rodanthe moppet Charlie Tahan playing William. While the plot sounds pretty soppy, the book by Ayelet Waldman is apparently funnier and sharper than its plot, and with Don "The Opposite of Sex" Roos writing and directing hopefully that will come through.
