As it continues to try and compete on a talent level with the likes of Netflix and Amazon, Apple TV+ has Natalie Portman and Lupita Nyong'o lined up to star in a new Apple TV+ miniseries called Lady In The Lake.
Not, as you might be concerned, the 79th variant of the King Arthur story, this is in fact, an adaptation of Laura Lippman's 2019 book. Honey Boy director Alma Har’el, has worked with The Man In The High Castle writing veteran Dre Ryan on the scripts.
The story takes place in 60s Baltimore, where an unsolved murder pushes housewife and mother, Maddie Schwartz, played by Portman, to reinvent her life as an investigative journalist and sets her on a collision course with Cleo Sherwood (Nyong’o), a hard-working woman juggling motherhood, many jobs and a passionate commitment to advancing Baltimore’s Black progressive agenda.
This is a big score for Apple, as neither Portman nor Nyong'o have starred in shows before. The trend continues...
